Hiking experiences in the Tessa/Texel Group mountains

Your walking holiday in Merano and Environs lets you enjoy nature in its most pristine form. You can finish breakfast and then stroll to the valley station of the Tessa/Texel cable car in just 10 minutes, where you’ll be whisked up to the high mountains in a flash. Or you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the Partschins Waalweg trail or one of countless other hiking paths. Need a tip? Tessa/Texel Group Nature Park

At over 33,000 hectares, the Tessa/Texel Group Nature Park is the largest in South Tyrol and also extends over the municipality of Partschins. The Tessa/Texel cable car takes you from Partschins village centre to the fascinating high-Alpine mountain world every half an hour. The Merano high mountain trail, Partschins waterfall, the Sopranes/Spronser Seen lakes: you can reach them all on foot from here.

Partschins waterfall

Partschins waterfall is one of the most impressive in the Alps. The water tumbles 97 metres down a free-standing rock face, creating a microclimate that’s especially good for your health. Between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on sunny days, the fine spray shimmers in all the colours of the rainbow.

Merano high mountain trail

The Merano high mountain trail, which covers a total of around 100 kilometres, features well-marked paths, mountain restaurants, rustic mountain inns, and huts. This impressive circular trail lets you discover the high-Alpine world of the Tessa/Texel Group in all its variety.

Sopranes/Spronser Seen lakes

The Sopranes/Spronser Seen lakes are the jewel of the Tessa/Texel Group mountains. In the midst of the high mountain landscape, the 10 lakes dotted across the colourful high plateau are an extraordinary natural spectacle.

Mountain biking or a leisurely cycle ride

There are numerous reasons to spend your bike holiday in Partschins: exciting trails in the Alpine terrain of the Tessa/Texel Group mountains or extensive valley cycle paths in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley. The Val Venosta/Vinschgau Railway was made for bike fans. Simply pick the starting point for your bike tour between Merano and Mals, and your bike will be delivered there quickly and conveniently with the separate bike shuttle. Rental and service stations are also available for you along the cycle routes.

The leisurely cycle paths through the Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley or to Merano and on to Bolzano lead you through apple orchards and vineyards. You can explore the countryside at your own pace and discover the culinary and cultural highlights of South Tyrol with your family.

By cable car to the highest heights

Why pedal countless metres uphill when there’s a more relaxed way to reach the heights? If your answer to this question is a nod or “Exactly,” the bike and cable car combo is just the thing for you. The Aschbach cable car whisks you and your bike from Rabland up to 1,360 metres above sea level in no time, where you’ll find numerous signposted tours on forest trails with 360° mountain panoramas and refreshment stops.

Avid bikers of all levels will find themselves in bike heaven on Mt Tramontana/Nörderberg, around the plateau of the Quadrat area of Partschins, and on the high plateau on Mt San Vigilio/Vigiljoch. Various uphill and downhill routes offer plenty of opportunities to really let loose.

The par 71, 18-hole course at Passeier.Meran Golf Club offers ideal conditions for golfers of all levels with a 2-level driving range, putting green, 3-hole practice course, chipping area, and golf school. You can tee off on this picturesque golf course – just a 40-minute drive from Alpin & Stylehotel Die Sonne – from March to November.
